Commonly known as "Wild Potato Vine" and "Man of the Earth".
It is perennial growing back from a tuber each year.

Wild Potato Vine grows wild in my yard. All of these just happen to be close enough to where I happened to put up the fence.

Some of them are 6" away from the fence. The marker flags are so that I don't get them with the lawn mower or string trimmer.

A few of these are natives (the ones growing out in front of the fence). The others are either transplants from a field in Pleasant View TN or grown from seeds that Ron sent me.

Blooms on one grown from Ron's seeds.

Macro shot. It is overcast this morning so the color is not very good.

Super Macro shot.

I could not seem to get the color right with the overcast sky and the camera in macro mode.

Kevin, those are beautiful. How long did the one from seed take to bloom..?? I don't have one but was wondering.

Very nice, is it fragrant?

Kevin, It's drop dead gorgeous.

Gourd,

Those that I say I grew from seed were actually started last year. And they did bloom and produce a few seeds last year. But I did not record the details.

Gerris2,
No, not fragrant at all. Although the bees seem to like it.

I have photos on my web site from a couple of years ago. This was from before I did any transplanting or get any seeds. Watch out for the bee!

Mine are very invasive. They also twine around bushes, fences, you name it. I didn't plant them. I guess the birds dropped the seeds.
