Commonly known as "Wild Potato Vine" and "Man of the Earth".
It is perennial growing back from a tuber each year.
Ipomoea pandurata
Kevin, those are beautiful. How long did the one from seed take to bloom..?? I don't have one but was wondering.
A.
Kevin, It's drop dead gorgeous.
Gourd,
Those that I say I grew from seed were actually started last year. And they did bloom and produce a few seeds last year. But I did not record the details.
Gerris2,
No, not fragrant at all. Although the bees seem to like it.
I have photos on my web site from a couple of years ago. This was from before I did any transplanting or get any seeds. Watch out for the bee!

Mine are very invasive. They also twine around bushes, fences, you name it. I didn't plant them. I guess the birds dropped the seeds.

Are you certain that you have Ipomoea pandurata(?!)...it's possible that you may have something that might look like Ipomoea pandurata, but is actually behaviorally very different >like Calystegia sepium
