First bloom, huge.
JMG labelled Aogakiyama
Love the color and size
Pretty!Love the color.
Lovely color and ruffles!
Yes, that is a pretty ruffly one with a white throat. nice!
Has anybody heard of this name before? I can't find it in Plantfiles. The closest looking is:

Aogakyama seems to translate to "blue snowcapped mountain"....so it doesn't seem like this would be the right color bloom.
Anybody recognize it?

Beth - The Aogakiyama as depicted in the Yamato-Noen mailorder catalog and on the seed package shows a blue flower with a larger white area expanding out from around the throat...

Any idea what this might really be?
If you got it from JWRMO, I asked him where he got them, he did not respond. I also am growing this one.
Hopefully he can give us a heads up. Send him the photo thru Daves and maybe he will pop in.

Structurally the bloom looks like Aogakiyama except that it is not blue...
Maybe the blooms will eventually turn blue...or it may be a cross or a sport of some kind...

Beth,
What you said:
"Aogakyama seems to translate to "blue snowcapped mountain"....so it doesn't
seem like this would be the right color bloom."
I have those seeds too and the name you translated would be representative of these photos, so looks like you have an AWESOME STRAY!
Here is photo of seed packet
