Let's see your blooms, part two

The Festoon is lovely. I like the way you've used an obelisk for it. It's very attractive there in the garden.

Is that the real color?? It's stunning!

The real color is more like the bloom you see behind it. A rich dark red. This photo was taken at 5:00 AM when the sun was just barely peaking up

Interesting how much the sun can make a difference! It's still beautiful.

Polish Spirit growing on a broken wrought iron chair. I had to convince hubby not to weld it and let me use it as a trellis. The Polish Spirit continued up and on to a 'good' wrought iron chair on the deck. Hubby is 'ok' with that for this year too. :)

Great use for the broken chair - looks good on it!

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

Awesome..good use for the chair!!

goldfinch: Festoon Confetti Evipo 036 is beautiful! Mine is just starting to bloom and I can't wait until it gets more floriferous! Do you have yours growing in full sun or pt shade?

Mainic: Rouge Cardinal is an excellent Clematis. I do believe it has more red than pink hues in it, but still very lovely.

toofewanimals: I'd say that Polish Spirit found just the right thing to climb on and it's great use recycled furniture. Very creative and beautiful!

Shirley, my Confetti is in full sun. I'm surprised at how big it is since I just planted it last fall. It was an "end of season" deal at a local nursery and it was in pretty rough shape when I got it. I think I paid $6.00 for it. It really sulked last fall and I was afraid it might not even make it through the winter. Must be a tough one!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

My 'Confetti' is in part shade and is just starting to bloom. I think I'll move it to full sun (it's still in a 1 gallon container) and see how it responds.

Heres one of my groups it said it was Ernest Markham but I think it looks like Leon Ville de Leon , I have more in my journal under clematis. I'm afraid I may have lost some of my pictures...Marlina

that is a ville de lyon for sure. one of my oldest and best clems here at hardwick hall. it is a great clem. your looks nice!

Blaine, MN(Zone 4b)

At one point this section of fence was solid flowers and the dianthus was solid blooms in front was a knock out if you can imagine. I have bought a total of 3 plants now marked Ernest Markham that have turned out to be ville de lyon.I can't really be disappointed because they are so PRETTY....Marlina

Here is my Jackmanni,

Marlina, that has happened to me several times with the Lowe's liners. They've never carried Ernest Markham here. I don't know if customers switch the tags after reading them, or if it happens at Lowe's supplier. I would be happy, too, to have more VDL's. Pretty picture.

W of Cleveland, OH(Zone 5a)

That IS a pretty picture. I used to decorate cakes and those were my favorite colors to use - with just a touch of white tiny flowers.

Delaware, OH

marlina, that purple and yellow combo is nice. i saw some great purple and yellow or purple and gold combos out in oregon and washington. much more edgy and new than red purple.i love it.

they had some rudbekiah's that were new, with a larger flower and using them in front of big purple clem was amazing in beauty.
nice combo in your pic.

Who am I? Second year growth is up to eight feet while later years are projected to cover some eighteen feet. This is certainly different although my experience is short at this hour. I am pleasingly surprised for this my year to creep. I think it should be named Firecracker Sparkling Stars. You are looking at about ten percent of the bloom now open.
The bloom is now in its third week. Who could ask for more?

you are docgipe, that is rubro marginata. it is a great clem! blends well with others or any rose.

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

Thank you. This time I shall book it so I have reference.

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

My guess is that I should wack it and trim it out at about four feet next spring. What say yea? It seems to like my various teas and is going to be cut off of feeding about the end of August. Our first frost is about the end of September. It is mulched heavily.

Delaware, OH

next spring hard prune to ground...that is what i do to handle my mature rubro m.

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

OK........thanks to you I think I have Clematis 101 pretty well in hand.

Blaine, MN(Zone 4b)

Clematis Guru thank-you. I have a coreopsis, Husker red pestimin , which doesn't show up because little Charlie(the dog) trampled it ! and 'Stella de Or 'daylilie ....in front of the Jackmanii. Sorry I Didn't realize my husband was replacing the brick around the garden and making it wider for a better edge should look better when it's done. Takes time...Marlina Also there are white lilies there getting ready for a bloom Casa Blanca , I believe and a huge sunflower for the birds...

what a great idea. a few tall sunflowers would be smashing next to a tall purple clem i will do that next year for sure.

Blaine, MN(Zone 4b)

I tell you I think it was an accidental thing the birds planted them but they did so I well figured they diserved a treat. LOL
