I've dug through lots of Coleoptera and found nothing marked up like this guy....any ideas.
I've been hunting in the Ground Beetle/Dung Beetle classifications mainly.

Necrodes surinamensis - Red-lined Carrion Beetle
I have been searching the beetles for 2 days...how'd you do that?
I looked at pictures of Coleoptera until I saw one with a thorax like looked like football shoulder pads, because I didn't think it looked like a ground beetle and I'm not real familiar with the dung beetles.
Then I click on the Family name (or whatever taxon seems to be in the ballpark) repeatedly, until a closer picture shows up. It will usually reload a different set of pictures each time you click on a taxon, but not always.
Sometimes I actually recognize the structures as characteristic of a certain taxon! More often, it's like my algebra teacher used to say, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.
Thanks...I'll give it a try next time.
