Hello all,
I recently moved down to central Florida and noticed this bug in my room. I am concerned that it is a cockroach, but, since there are so many bugs in Florida, I had hoped that you would be able to help me properly identify it before taking further action. Please help ASAP! Thank you very, very much.

Do you think that it could be a nymph Australian Cockroach?

I live in New Orleans and regret to say that that is indeed a cockroach. I can only identify the German, American, Chinese and Madagascar. I'm not sure what yours is except that it's definately a cockroach. Usually, any roach but the German (the little ones) , are just passing through. They really don't want to be stuck in your house. I have heard of infestations of American cockroaches (ugh) but have never seen it. I have observed them swarming on windowsills in the spring during mating season. Gross.
This looks like Periplanteta australasiae. They can be a nuisance in Connecticut greenhouses. Here is a link: http://tolweb.org/Blattidae/8282
