CLOSED: Eating my Bell Peppers...

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Found this thing on my bells today. I'm pretty sure he's what has eaten a lot of the foliage and maybe even tried a pepper or 2. May even be what's eating my hibiscus... dunno.

Sorry the pics aren't as good as they could be, but this guy seems to run towards me whenever I get close.

It does look like the nymphs

Looks more like what the link claypa provided. Thought it looked like a "stink bug".

This little guy seemed aggressive. Don't recall stink bugs being like that. He would like charge me. And he definately can't fly.

So tell me, do these things eat plants?

Thanks,
Donna

At first I wasn't sure if it was a Stinkbug or a Sheildbug (Scutelleridae) but I guess it's a nymph stage of the bug linda_nc found. Most Stinkbugs eat plants, by sucking the juices out of them, but a few eat other insects. I don't know about this one.

I've seen them around before. They are hard to spot... they blend in well on my bell pepper plants... and that's where they always are.

Thanks,
Donna
