Why is it that on some plant profiles it says that the agapanthus needs to be planted against a house?

It definitely doesn't need to be planted there, they'll do fine there but it's definitely not necessary at least in climates where the plant will do well. If you're talking about the comments in Plant Files entries, those are just people's personal experiences with the plant, could be in some cases people had the right conditions near their house but not away from it (for example if they were in a climate where the plant is borderline hardy). I took a look at a couple entries and didn't see comments like this, if you can post a link to some of the places where you saw it maybe I can figure out why they might have been saying that.
