blueberry bush

Has anyone successfully propagated a blueberry bush from a cutting? If you have, how did you do it?

Softwood cuttings taken about right now will work for Vaccinium corymbosum (Highbush Blueberry). If that is the type of Blueberry you are trying to root, don't wait too long because you are losing your threshold of opportunity. The cuttings were about 4". I started them in perlite and Canadian sphagnum peat about 1:1. I placed pencils in the corners of each pot and wrapped cellophane around them to retain humidity. I placed the little pots in a glass oblong baking dish that I added about ¼ - ½" of water to so that they remained constantly damp. They rooted by the end of summer placed outside in a screened in porch with an eastern exposure.

Cellophane wrap is not completely water vapor tight. But since EQ kept extra water at the base, everything worked well. Another option could be to seal the pot(s) inside a clear freezer ziplock bag or something of similar heft. Then additional water wouldn't be necessary. Make sure the bags doesn't receive significant direct sun. You don't want things to cook inside!

He's correct, I wrapped the cellophane around the perimeter and did not wrap over the top. I wanted some air exchange for the cuttings yet on the other hand I wanted the relative humidity raised around the cutting. When I have cuttings, I do keep an old pump hairspray bottle filled with water near them and spritz them when ever I think about it. I do have fancy misters but haven't found them to be necessary.

I've rooted Nepenthes as well as other cuttings doing pretty much as Leftwood suggested save I wrapped the bottom of the cutting in Long Fibre Sphagnum Moss and I do use rooting hormones from time to time so I don't see why it wouldn't work for Highbush Blueberry. Ziplock freezer baggies are great for a lot of things.
