Calla Lily - newbie has problem

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

This is my first year growing calla lilies. I thought one had fallen over in the wind. Upon further inspections the side of the shoot was slimy and as I kept digging it was slimy down into the bulb. I cleaned all of the out but it looks like it was either a bug that went in thru the leaf bottom or it is too wet and started to rot? I don't know help. Thanks. Hope this is the right forum.

Poor pupper. He looks like he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.

He looks as if to say, "My, what ever did I do to that calla lily to make it behave so badly?"
Cute....

My poor puppy....LOL. The one good thing about a short male Bassett hound is they are too short to hike on much of anything. They make an attempt but little short legs don't go very high up, can't even hit a tire or rim..LOL

ROTFLOL Couldn't you get the poor fella some training wheels or something??
