Here's a picture of Acer palmatum 'Ryusen'. Really beautiful. Really expensive.

Thanks for the pic. Looks like a great tree and maybe I will get a smaller one this summer and give it a whirl. Did you notice if was a very high graft?

I believe the graft was low. I've read that it grows almost like a vine and this one seems to have been trained from the ground up. My finger was on the trigger but the $afety must have been on.

1000 smackers is a lot to shell out for an untested maple in Z5, even if you are in the city. Now to check Pendulous Plants site...

FYI,

pendulousplants.com has 1 gallon 'ryusen' available now. they have 15 of them....
