very pretty forget me not...hee hee
I think it forgot.
Al, the tag told you not to forget it.........
It's a dismal, misty morning here. I may actually catch up on indoor chores.
I pushed to get the last Glads and all but a handful of the last Dahlias in yesterday evening, ahead of the expected rain.
I had ordered some sweet potato slips from Park seed. They were scheduled to arrive in mid-May. After a couple of e-mails back & forth I told them to cancel the order a few days ago. I got the confirmation of the cancellation Thursday. The slips arrived Friday, all dried up and ready for the compost pile. I will plant them if there is a break in the weather only because I've had the plot ready for a month. They take 95 days with cold temp restrictions, so I can't just tag on some October weather to make up for the missed time.
Frustrating.
Climbing Nightshade flowers.
Andy,
Did you get your money back? I've heard many bad things about Park. They're ok with seeds, but with actual live plants.... Please post a review.
Al, I think your WIFE forgot, not the plant.
xxxx, Carrie
I agree. I'm no fan of Park or sister Wayside.
I've baught Sweet potato slips before but not from Park. They said my credit card would be credited, we'll see. I've been using them for a long time.

Sarahskeeper...The Dahlia Dinnerplate collection I ordered from Parks on March 11th will be here Monday, June 11th. Parks sent them second day FedEX on Thursday.
The third week in May Parks told me there was a quality control issue and the horticulturist would know around June 1st if they would be shipped. I called on June 4th and was told they were out of them. When I mentioned I had been getting email for two weeks--one just the day before--offering nearly all the Dahlias in the collection at the same or lower price than I had paid, we clobbered together a replacement order on the phone. At least I think it is a replacement. Have to check my bank. Their email says I was billed for the new amount (which was a buck or two lower than the orginal charge).
Kass, I love Robin's eggs. Thanks for that pic!
Me too - they go great with blue Ham. Just kidding! Nice Kass. Show us the babies when they arrive.
Eeeeew...
Kassia, yes please let us know the progress of the robins. I though there would be a nest in the tree in the center of my yard but it never got moved into.
Well the weather is way better today than yesterday, maybe I'll get those scraggly sweet potato slips in. I'll have to take a pic, they are a mess.
Victor, I had to put bird nets over my strawberries. I don't usually but if I want anything to eat and freeze....... Robins and Catbirds are the culprits.
Andy P
I did too the other day.
I used Park's once and never again.
Nice eggs.
There they are, haunting me again! Okay. That's final. I'm going to have to give in and go buy supermarket strawberries... it won't be the same, but it'll be better than nothing. Maybe I could cut them up and put them in my cereal. ....*sigh*....
A photo from this morning, my peony bush and a few other bloomers.
Andy's posting that photo on every thread! Must be on the Strawberry Assn. payroll. It was even on the Electronics Forum.
oh... I want big strawberries.... and Andy you are teasing me.... remember that I know where you live!!!! and Sarah knows me too!!!! just kidding!!!!
I love peonies... mine are just beginig to open!!!!
I love looking at Mama Robin nest's ... I just put some new bird food all over the garden... I want tons of birds around.... I love birds... and I feel so honored one has chosen the porch to make a nest... my house is supposed to be a nice place for all creatures but: japanese beattles and other things that eat roses... those are NOT welcome... I hope the birds eat them!!!
You're too late Kassia. I already claimed 'dibbs' on the strawberries.
Aren't peonies the best?! I'm only sorry that I didn't plant more and that I threw the tag away for this one. I have no idea what it is.
Careful, I got rats as a partial result of feeding the birds.
Victor, I only posted that pic on 3 threads. I know that it's overkill but I had to do it. lol.
Kassia, I should have given you some strawberry plants when you were here, I thought of them after you left. They look so insignificant in April, they were overlooked.
I ate them in yogurt yesterday and on cereal this morning. Now I have to pick more. I'll have to start freezing them by the weekend as I pick colander fulls
I set up a new bed every 4 years with Tristars. The only real Tristars I ever got were the first order. Ever since they are mislabeled, some giant tasteless, some big good June bearers. The new ones from last year are too big to be Tristars, the flavor is good but not strong like Tristars. Frustrating. This last order was from Jung, before that it was from Miller (twice).
Andy P
Just teasing Andy.
I just spent almost 2 hours watering. Everything is drying out. Sprinkles and mist are all we have had in over a week.
Sad news: I'm giving up on Hardy Hibiscus. They were badly eaten by Saw Flies last year and those that made it are now getting eaten again. They are a pain to spray because the bugs are on the underside of the leaves and come back in a week.
I've grown them for over 15 years without a problem until this.
Bye, Bye, Hibiscus.
Andy P
oh poor hibiscus... so gorgeous....Andy you can still bring me strawberries... if you come for the RU in my house on the 24th////// are you coming???
Not sure
come on Andy you are not so far... and you need to come and see the plants you gave me... they are growing!!!!
What a bummer about the hibiscus. It's beautiful too. Darn sawflies.
If you decide you're coming to the RU, I'd love to see you! (hoping, please, please)
Harper
Andy, I'm just trying to get some hardy hibiscus started. I hate to see you give up on them. My next door neighbor has 2 beauties. A DG friend sent me seeds for pink, yellow & white. That's all the info I have. So I have tiny seedlings going.
Gram, keep an eye out for very small black & red flies. They lay eggs on the underside of the leaves. Before you know it, these nasty critters have eaten them all up.
They are new bugs around here. Climate warming, illegal immigrants, ????
They may be Sow bugs or Saw flies. I can't keep them straight.
Andy P
Bummer Andy. I just added about 6 or 7 last year. They're so gorgeous and bloom mid-Summer. Kopper King is dynamite. Truly dinner plate size blooms.
Why aren't you guys wacking those larvae w/ Bt?
What's Bt?
Because I'm not going to turn over every leaf to spray them.
That's why, lol.
It works great on the fruit trees.
Andy P
You've been growing them for 15 years and I only heard of them two years ago? NOT FAIR!! Also I CAN'T COME on the 24th of June - how about the 24th of July instead?

Thanks for the link, Dave47 :-)
Is anyone else's DG acting really weird? All of a sudden I have 26 new posts in my threads, but they're way old.
