found this really cool looking Caterpillar last night in a Oak tree. Any ideas?? I haven't been able to ID it

I bet it's one of the Prominent Moths, it's very similar to these:

Looks to be most similar to the caterpillar of the Variable Oakleaf Moth (Lochmaeus manteo) .. and a beauty to boot, DonnaB !!

Just as the name implies: these guys can/will be found wearing quite a varied 'wardrobe'! .. (hee)
