Gourd - Very striking and lovely! So are your flowers/vines the "true" Scarlet O'Hara morning glories?

So what cultivar do I have? These were seeds from Burpee or some such place. They were labeled Scarlet O'Hara.

Hi Becky,
This is the True "Scarlett O'Hara" color and flower. Very nice..

I got a white one once that the package claimed it was Scarlett O'hara, can you imagine my surprise when I got this. by the way, I'm growing the seed from this flower this year to see if it changes color, although, I already know it is not the same plant, the leaves are all cordate shaped.

LOL! That almost looks like a moonflower mg! Very white!!!

So the true Scarlet O'Hara is a solid color instead of a white throat? Your red color is more red, too. Not a magenta/dark pink color like mine. Nice, Gourd! I really like yours!

I am growing both cardinal climber (Ipomoea sloteri) and cypress vine (Ipomoea quamoclit) together on one section of my fence. No blooms yet. I am interested to see how "red" those flowers will be.

Gourd,

My goodness! Dressed in red like that I`ll bet everyone will want her. You will have people knocking on your door asking for seeds!

The white flower looks like the white tri color named Pearly Gates. :)

Gourd-Antoinette - The SOH STR-62 is looking good(!)...the color may deepen as the plants mature and there may be plants with a deeper color 'red'...

The SOH STR-67 may produce a deeper shade of red...photo comparisons will be in order..both should have solid colored tubes...

Scarlett O'Hara should be spelled with 2 tt's since it was named after the famous novel and movie character

beckygardener - the Ipomoea nil soh's with the white throats seem to closely resemble the Wine and Roses as entered in the PlantFiles here

Looking Good(!)...

P.S. - The white flowered plant here

Thanks Ron .... You know your mg blooms! My Scarlett O'Hara does actually look like Wine and Roses! LOL! Does anyone ever "buy" seeds that were packaged with the correct ID? Most of my trades have been accurate, but anything I have bought it questionable. I guess the Japanese have it all over US seed sellers.

Gourd/Ron - Your Scarlett O'Hara is soooo lovely! I have never even seen photos of a solid red MG such as that until now. Very, very nice! :-) Lovely cultivar. It's a heart-stopper for sure!!
