Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

I just noticed it today. Any idea?

Another picture - these are both way at the very top of the tree.

Webbing on the ends of branches is usually fall webworm here, not sure about TX.

Some sort of silkworm, I'd guess.

Looks like web worms to me too. And I can vouch that we get them in Texas.

Bigcityal is right, it's the fall webworm, Hyphantria cunea. Here's its mugshot in the Bug ID forum:

Yep, that was my pic too. I thought it was a Laugher, until I saw the webs at the top of the tree and someone ID'd it as a webworm. Then when I went to look and se what that one looked like... lo and behold! It looked just like my "Laugher."

Now I just have to figure out how to get up to the top of my tree to FRY 'EM!

My neighbor has something similar to this that I have borrowed before-

Have you any neighbors who might have one of these so you don't have to buy one yourself?

Yeah, that's what we were thinking of too. Actually, I'm glad to see it's not that expensive - so we'll probably just buy one so we can get these critters anytime we see 'em!

Dang bugs. I'm sure this is why my tree loses its leaves so early every year!
