Local vine, Merremia, which species?

Tampa, FL(Zone 10a)

This is a naturalized or native vine that grows all over this town>

It sure is pretty whatever it is......

And it does better in part day sun or bright shade than in full sun>

It has flowered more this year, with the drought, than in any other year I can remember. A close up.

The leaves remind me of virginia creeper, but the blooms don't match...

LeeAnne, it is very attractive when in flower. It is unbothered by pests and disease, which makes me think it is not native. Most of the relatives of Merremia that I could find in my Google search were from Asia. It would make a nice landscape plant.

I would. Do the blossoms last all day, or are they short lived like that of an MG?

Mesilla Park, NM

oh my lord, those are beautiful , the center is so dark and captivating. Be sure to collect seeds if you can. I wonder if they are not related to I. cairica, hopefully some one can ID it by the leaves also.

VEry nice.

Pueblo West, CO

Wow, I love it! I really like the pic of it growing on the wood fence.

I'm familiar with this species

and the combination of the overall features enable me to offer an ID that I feel quite certain about...

A closeup photo of the sepals is missing from the database and would be a helpful addition to the ID features of this species...

Can you get a closeup of the sepals as a reference for the community of MG enthusiasts(?)...

Thanks(!) for your contribution(s)...
