Here's a swell combination that I first saw at the Arnold Arboretum and have since replicated where I work. The display at the Arnold also had Hyacinthoides amoungst the Dicentra too which was quite nice.
Does anyone have any other particularly felicituos combinations of perennials and shrubs?
Shrub and Perennial Combinations
water,
When I returned to NZ this past winter I was fortunate enough to experience the pleasure of visiting a few private gardens. This garden designed and worked by Mage Snow and her husband Max who had spent all of their working years raising Marino sheep, really focuses on the color of the plant. Other than a few areas in NZ which the leaves turn golden there is little color variation in the leaf between seasons. Knowing this makes her early insite to Japanese Maples and heath/heather amazing to me. kt
