I'm still here. Have a lot of obstacles, but will try to make it Saturday morning. Although... I reeeally have to say... 8 a.m.? You guys are brutal!
Dawn, if you're reading this, I am so sorry. My heart and prayers are with you. {{{{ Dawn }}}}
PVC Irrigation system ???
Sylvia,
Talk to Smockette when she gets there Friday night about p/u the Ross guys. Since we don't have to do any digging, I don't see why we would need them. That is your call, but if you had a communication problem, that might cause more problems than help. It won't be anything heavy either by the sound of it.
I am bringing a couple of pipe wrenches for the faucet. Do you want me to bring some juice, ice, cokes, water, or anything else for the brunch?
Sheila
My ETA is 5-6 depending on the rush hr traffic in Dallas. I am planning on leaving the Farm as near to noon as possible. That should put me just south of D b4 5, hopefully 4.
I'm thinking that we can actually have most of it done or @ least laid out Friday nite so that it won't be an all day job Saturday!
I agree about the Ross guys. I think they are not needed.
OKKKKKK... WE WILL SEE.
We are just trying to save you some $$ since you have all of our talents to help you! lol
:~)
Wish you a safe trip through that Dallas traffic. See you Sat. morning.

Oh guys, been lurking and watching. Almost 1" at my house so far today and the next 3 days expected to rain all day. Sorry I didn't volunteer but I am going to work Tuesday and had to get some sort of clothes together to be presentable. All I have had for sometime is "tralatralatrala" is my gardening things. This is a part time/full time so it only lasts 2 or so weeks at a time and then I am back where I belong....home on the range. Ya'll are so beautiful. God bless you.
LouC
Well we had sprinkles and light rain, but it didn't damper our efforts. We almost got it all done. We had to make two trips to Lowe's and still ran out of supplies and had to call it quits.
Sylvia made a mean Quiche for our brunch!! We really enjoyed the visit with each other. Linda did most of the work since Sylvia and I have medical problems and can't get up and down easily. All in all we learned a lot as we went along. It fe;t good to lend a hand.
Sheila,
Had an EMG yesterday and had good news. There is no permanent nerve damage. MD thinks it is genetic. Will have another epidural in a couple of weeks after my job is over.
The fact that they are not recommending surgery is wonderful. Said they would try to just manage for awhile. Even moving the grand piano was not the cause...just didn't help very much. My leg is super sore tonight. Needles in the muscles and then shocked with electricity was not what I call entertainment. You're such a great person to be helping Sylvia. Maybe someday I'll get myself well enough to help others.
LouC
That is good news that there is no permanent damage. I had a lot of treatments before surgery. They were the electric charges that are suppose to re-educate the muscles and nerves. They got me to a point that I felt pretty good, but then one wrong move and my back seized up on me again. Careful to do what the Dr. says after you start the treatments.
Just get well before the October plant swap in Arlington. It is great fun and growing every year!!
Sheila ... I am glad to know you are home and safe. LouC, Sheila worked hard too, she kept moving ... even when we took a ciggy break. Actually Linda nad Sheila did most of everything because I was not moving fast enough. lol I did better after I took my pain. :)
Patii says she will come over monday and finsh up ... we will see. :)
Well go off lie for a few weeks and dont get inviteed to the party?
lol
Shelia - you know if you ever need help I am there for you right? BTW - the peach trees both had fruit this year - 2 each and wow it was very very good...
(((Mitch!)))) Sorry that you missed the workout yesterday. LOL! We sure could have used some more help. I will remember next time!
Great news on the peaches!! I have one little tree that bloomed this year, but it is in the shade most of the day, so it produced nothing.
Can't believe it. Am watching my rain gauge (one of those real big ones) from my desk. We have had an inch of rain in less than 45 minutes. Because of all the rain recently I have actually lost a lot of plants. The hollyhocks got some kind of rust and killed all of them. Well, they quit blooming and the foliage was awful so I have cut them down to the ground in the hopes that they will start over. The phlox are covered with fungus and I doubt they will bloom. Sorry, to be complaining. The lakes and aquifers are once again full and I can always plant more seed.
Sylvia,
I guess there won't be any work today. At least you won't even be needing a water system for awhile.
We can sympathize with you Lou! It's a shame about your hollyhocks.
I was just out in my yard and it is just squeeshy and I know it won't get mowed anytime soon either. The only things I have lost so far to the water is my puprle sage and some of the white yarrow. Others like mint and elephant ears are thriving though!!
Sylvia was going to have a medical proceedure next week and won't be able to water her yard, so she wanted the drip system in place. The rain today sure put a "damper" on getting that done.
Pray that all goes well for Sylvia.
prayers here too -
I know I have recored almost 5 in of rain this last week and today... that is tooo much at one time...
Mitch!!!! you are back! Whats going on at school? Are those my Peach trees you are reaping fruit from? I hope so. I am looking for a jar of peach preserves at the Arlington RU. If you had been here saturday to interrpert ...we could have gone and got a couple of the Ross street boys. :) to help us out. Hopefully PBTXLADY is serious about finishing up. Patti I hope you are listening ... the door is always open to my back yard.
Thansk for the prayers guys, hopefully I will be in and out within a day. I know what you mean about those Hollyhocks. They need to far away from you so all you can see is the flowers. and the worse thing is to let water get on them, definitely water them at the roots. The best looking one I saw is back here in the alley ... where no one notices it but me.
Oh yeah Sheila saw it yesterday, but she didnt see it in it glory. Sheila we forgot to go dig up those pretty Mexican petunias!
Oh ... and Mitch its not to late to come over ... I got so much stuff to plant! Besides my Hosta orders coming in ... there is Smockette coming in with all her donations too I luv it! lol

They are you peach trees! They are doing sooooo good. I am sooo thrilled to have them here.
Sylvia - set up a planting day and lets see what we can do. When are your trees getting here so we can get them in at once too?
School is going good.. soon I will have to post a thread about the news I have about school. . . it is big and I want the official news first. Lets just say a gardener (me) put in for a grant that it looks like I am going to get!!
Mitch, thats a bet! let me work on it. Thanks
That side view of me is horrible! It shows all my chins! LOL! I took the one of you and Linda so everyone could see you were involved, just seated! LOL! The quiche looked even better after it came out of the oven!!
Edited to say....Linda brought her the trees and vines already Mitch, and she also has over 50 hostas to plant! If you have time to help this week, I am sure she wouldn't turn it down.

During the week no but maybe one of these weekends?
Okay, I spent the weekend in bed, but now I'm ready to go. Sylvia, just let me know what still needs to be done. I can help plant, too.
Hey, this is fun! Who else needs help?
Pb, we didn't do it all. We left you some work to do.
Now, we want pix when your thru.
Have a good one!
Linda says she is going over there today to finsh up. I sure hope she does. ...maybe its hot enough to soften up those soaker hoses too.
Sylvia,
Did you get the rest of the system fixed? Also I have a receipt I found in my car from the Lowe's trip you and I made, I will mail it to you.
Hope your procedure goes well, you will be in my prayers.
Today is the day for this next surgery. Hope she lets us hear soon.
Yea, PB, did you finish up our mess? lol
I dmailed her this morning but I bet she was already up and headed out by then. Hope she will give one of us a ring tonight or tomorrow.
If PB didn't finish up, I guess I could go see what I could do to help next weekend; maybe Mitch could pop over to lend me a hand.
This week we will have lots of rain so it appears (now).
Yes, I did go over there Tuesday and finish, sort of. Ran out of the drip tubing so not everything was completely covered. Mostly the shelves with all the pots. She said she planned to water all those manually anyway. EYE think that drip systems are great, and why not cover the pots too, so you have more time just to putter? LOL! I would've done them, but I ran out of time and supplies. So I left her instructions for a quick fix while she's in the hospital. I hope she was able to get it done.
Anyway, y'all did great, and I hope we got her fixed up! Now we just need to remember her in our prayers while she's in the hospital. :)
Great PB, glad you got her fixed up. We couldn't strech out the drip lines because they would just coil back up, needed a hot day to soften them up. I am glad she changed her mind about the "6 inches apart" after the first line. The garden would have been nothing but black worms!!
Hopefully this surgery will make her feel better and start to heal up. Please if anyone hears how she is doing, please let us all know here. Meanwhile, yes, keep the prayers coming.
Keep me informed, I cannot do anything next weekend but the weekend after that I am free and ready to do something if it is not tooo hot to plant trees??
Toward the end of this thread, there is news about Sylvia: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/736877/
Thanks Pat, for posting that. I hate that it is late on Sunday and I have to work tomorrow. But I hope they let her go home and she gets some good news. If she is worried over her hosta's then she may be feeling better! LOL!
I am good ladies.... thanks for you prayers ... will write more in the morning. I am so tired and exhausted and rundown... and i am glad this is over ... for a while anyway.
Great to see your home! Hope you got to see your red hosta when you got back home yesterday. Rest and get your strength back.
My red hosta is still purple ... I dont know whats up with that. Mitch forgive me for saying ladies... got to get use to you being back. lol
