Cotoneaster Cornubia Tree. Has anyone grown this?

Rochdale, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I have just purchased this tree and it says it is very fast growing and a good screen tree. Has anyone any experience with this?

Very common in urban civic plantings up here (Northumbs.). It gets to about 6-8m tall, with wide-spreading branching, so needs plenty of space.

Thanks Resin. Do they look nice? Supposed to be fabulous when all the berries are out.

Nice enough. I tend to think the shape could be better, it is (usually) shrubby, with several stems from the base, usually spreading wide and low. I'll get a photo or two later today.

Overall, I prefer one of its parent species, Cotoneaster frigidus, which makes a better-shaped tree, even though it is deciduous ('Cornubia' is evergreen, except in severe winters, inherited from its other parent Cotoneaster salicifolius).

Just checked the tag. It is a cotoneaster frigidus 'cornubia'. It is grown as a single stem tree about 7ft high. Is that better. Sorry a bit of a novice at gardening.

Quoting:
It is a cotoneaster frigidus 'cornubia'

The nursery doesn't have it quite right - it is of hybrid origin, involving both C. frigidus and C. salicifolius (thought to be probably ¾ C. frigidus and ¼ C. salicifolius).
Quoting:
It is grown as a single stem tree

That will certainly make it better (at least in my opinion! - some people prefer them multistemmed and shrubby)

Off to get some pics in a mo

If you have some pics that would be great. I have only seen it as a young tree and pictures of parts of mature trees. Tried to google it but I couldn't get any good ones.

Note dead shoots at top on above pic - possibly fireblight?

Thank you for all the pictures. At least it gives me an idea of how it will look. Are you in the gardening business by any chance?
