I found this critter on a rue plant given to me by a neighbor. Abt an inch- inch & a quarter long. Am I going to rue this little guy, or will he turn into something gorgeous that doesn't eat my garden?

Yes, leave him! He looks like he is about ready to pupate and the chrysalis will probably be on the plant. P's right, he'll be a gorgeous Black Swallowtail.
