I was looking at this on the pests forum, I almost answered but I decided against it, but here goes... It is a nymph (sub-adult) of a true Bug. It might be a good bug, or it might not, I can't find one like it. But there are Assassin bug (bug eaters) nymphs that look similar. I'm just guessing that it's looking for Aphids.

Thank you claypa! I'll keep an eye on him and see how he evolves - he was still on the same small plant later today.

Please forgive my goofiness, Claypa (& linda_nc) ..
I've just now realized - - they're essentially the same Family!

Well, same order anyway...Damsel bugs/Nabidae family and Assassin bugs/Reduviidae family, right?
I think you were right about the Damsel shape, but it remains to be seen what this thing will grow into, will the bumps on its back become spikes, etc... I don't know...

There's only 99 bazillions of 'ese thangs anyway... hee... and the Latin... ay caramba... I just enjoy learning as I go, and hopefully be helpful in the process :)
