Hi Todd,
All of your Ginkgos look great! I wish I had that many different cultivars.
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks Mike,

Gonna grab some more next week. Finally this fall they get to go in the ground....

Nice photos. It would be great if you could turn this thread into a picture encyclopedia of Ginkgo cultivars . . .

Niles, MI(Zone 5a)

Yeah, I'd like to do something like that. I'm working on my photo skills and trying to show differentiation between plants. More pictures coming btw....

Thanks for looking!

Very nice photos. The 'Sunstream' is particularly nice.

dybbuk, Do you have or have you seen a Chris' Dwarf? Are they synonymous with Munchkin? I have two, planted last August. Tiny little things, they have leafed out heavily but no new growth. This is my first experience with a small ginkgo. I have supervised the municipal planting of dozens of Princeton Sentry and Autumn Gold and they didnt seem this slow to establish.

I haven't grown either but have read that they are incredibly slow growers. Lots of different names are getting thrown around to different dwarves so it's hard to say what's what anymore. Ginkgo(e)s by nature are pretty slow growing so when the dwarf element is included it's bound to slow it all down. Munchikin appears to me as a "pincushion" of compact leaves. I imagine it will just grow as a tuft of green. One dwarf I've had experience with is 'chase manhattan'. Very nice compact upright form with closely spaced leaves. Unfortunately mine died this spring for no apparent reason. Go figure....

Wish I could be more help. I am going to venture into some of the dwarves this year as I will have more planting space.

A lot of things died this spring! My goal this year are the varigateds. Havn't chosen yet but I'd better get going.

I had a 'Chase Manhattan' that kicked the bucket, too. The tree didn't survive its first winter and I don't know why? (this was a few years ago) The tree was grafted at about 4' with quite a nice head of leaves. I have a smaller plant now that is not planted in my landscape yet. I am going to be careful as to where I place this plant when it finally makes that jump to "landscape plant".
Mike
