Morning Glories and Sunflowers

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

I had a picture from this morning to share. These sunflowers grew to mammoth proportions. :)

Pretty! Reminds me of when I grew sunflowers in a container .. it was really funny looking.

That would have been perfect set up with some stakes to support the sunflower stalks and some morning glory seeds. The stakes hold the stalks up and keep the morning glories from overwhelming the sunflower. The morning glories can keep growing after the sunflower finishes and you can cut away the dead leaves and the morning glories can keep right on growing.

I`m going to try another combo and this time give the sunflowers a 3 week head start and then plant the morning glory seeds with them with a stake for extra support for the sunflower and vines.

I actually planted some morning glory seeds with the above picture but you can`t see them! The sunflowers are so gigantic you have hunt around inside the leaves to find the flowers. :)

OMG - I can't believe how huge those sunflowers are! Already!

I just planted sunflowers seeds in the ground a week ago...

My sunflowers are huge this year also. I don't have a picture with me now, but here is one showing up in the background of one of my dragonfly leaf princess F3 growouts. The sunflower is one of the smaller flowers on the lower branches of the multi-flowered stalk. - Arlan

Hi Arlan, That is very pretty. The sunflower makes a nice background plant too!

I have lots planted. I`ll come back here whenever I get some more pictures. I`d Love to see what other people are trying out with these flowers this year..that would be cool.

Oh they look great like this, it serves two purposes here.. hopefully next year I can try that.
