I couldn't waste the trip without looking for my favorite blooms. I found a lot of them, but all the same type! Come on PS, try a little variety!
Palm Springs morning glory
I wonder if they are I. indica (Blue Dawn).. did they look like it to you? Man, you should have gone to the Lowes there, they have the greatest (and cheapes) cacti there.. some neat stuff.. and the landscapint at their Lowes is all (CACTUS and Agaves) neat.

They are I. indica, probably the only one that the average gardener can get to grow in that climate without excessive pampering. I see on the Southwest Forum that it’s a popular choice here. When you live in the desert, you learn to go with what works, consider growing things people in other climates consider too invasive for their gardens, and limit the number of plants that are high maintenance under desert conditions. I’m learning how to grow annual morning glorys in the desert by trial and error, having fallen in love with them when I lived in California. So far I have “Sunrise Serenade” that is hanging in there. I will learn the ins and outs of growing under my conditions using commercially available varieties before I start growing the uncommon ones I obtained on eBay.
MusaRojo,
In Moreno Valley, CA 10 years, where I lived previously (8 mos ago) the blue dawn was great.. now the JPMGs were another story, they need to be in the shade/or I used shade cloth we had 117 degrees for weeks there. Then it would rain and we had floods..lol. Be sure to shade them.. I don't think there was one that could take that sun and heat at those temps.
