These are the new cones this spring. If I'd gotten the picture a little sooner, they would have been brighter, but they're still pretty. Anybody know what species this is?

Hi Bonnie,
If this was a upright/pyramidal tree, it appears that you were looking at Picea pungens 'Hoopsii'. If it was a prostrate or low growing version, then I'm not sure. I've stared at that foliage over the business end of a pruning shears too many too many times not to recognize it.
Regards,
Ernie
Ernie, yes it's upright, so I guess it's Hoopsi. Thank you. Question...it wasn't the best shape or in the best condidtion, but the price was right. There is a bare spot in the middle where a branch was broken off. Will it fill in eventually? Also, it has a double top. Can I cut off one of those branches without it growing wonky? I call it my "Charlie Brown" tree cuz I love it anyway :)

Great photos, Bonnie; thanks for sharing. I also love the blue spruce; watched a tiny one I planted at a former home in VA grow huge and lovely, hated when we moved away from it. Now have a smaller cultivar starting here at our new home.
