Is Andy Williams going to sing?? Very nice, Laura. Looks like a dappled shade garden. I like the grass as the pathway. I've done that in places.

(Zone 4a)

What a gorgeous yard you have! I could picture myself sitting there enjoying the view with a nice cup of tea :)

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Laura, so lovely! that's the way I like to see grass ~ just enough to get by the garden beds.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

My dearest Laura, I am so glad to see all this beauty.... I miss you!!!!! I almost drove by yesterday when I visited a client in Wayland...

gorgeous as usual..... I love your garden!!!

Laura, Very nice!

Kassia, do you know everyone on DG?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

What are we doing up so late? We need to get up early tomorrow morning to work in our gardens! At least I am not alone. Sigh.

that 'kassia' is a lovely blue. I really need a bed like that in my front yard. mine is a large expanse of green nothing.

love Bella.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Wow! you gotta love Kassia - person or plant!

Wayland, MA(Zone 6a)

grampapa
for years my front yard was the "ball field" but now that the kids have grown up its all mine! I just started 2 years ago with a small bed and then each year it got longer and longer . it is the only place in my yard that is truely "full Sun"
Seandor I agree

Very nice Laura. Like the edging. Wish I had done that - I might have to one of these days. Hope nobody uses the basketball court or you're looking at some smashed plants!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Dave, LOL..... actually Laura IS the person that introduced me to DG... she kept sayng how wonderful information and great people ... so I tryed ... the rest is history!!!!

Laura, it's a beautiful plant... I am going to tell Zuzu... she always has a thread about blue flowers...

ah, I spent the ENTIRE day outside today.... gardening... and really having fun.... Oh I love it!!!! planted a lot of little things, ate my first strawberry.... I have tons of lavender in front of the house now... verbena... and planted some seeds.... california poppies... zinnias... the sunflowers are growing so nice... I think I might have at least 2 very soon.... well, that's what happens when you start them too early!!!

Everyone, Bella is a sweetheart... one of the friendliest dogs I ever met... I love her... I wish she could be cloned!!!!! she is beautiful and you just want to hug her!!!!!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Laura, I have camassia coming up for the fist time but it's very sparse. Your's is so much fuller. Do they come in better over time?

Dave

PS I remember Bella from when I was new at DG! (I think)

Wayland, MA(Zone 6a)

Dave
Yes they will form a nice clump after time .
I started with 3-4 bulbs and I now have them in several spots in clumps they are fleeting but so pretty.
Bella is so dear to me she is a soul mate . my dh loves her to , for guy who didn't really want another dog he spoils her rotten!
laura

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Thanks Laura! Glad to hear they will fill-in. How about the actual blossom? Mine is very whispy unlike your's which has a fuller flower.

Wayland, MA(Zone 6a)

it could be sun or food . is it in full sun? if not I would move it to a more sunny spot and feed it now with a bulb food and see what happens next year, if it is in sun feed it too they do take a few years to settle in but the multply fast when they do . : )
laura

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

It's a first year in part shade to mostly sun. I'll fertilize. Thank you!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I am stopping by this week!!!! now I want to see it!!!

Laura, what color is the veronica you gave me??? blue???

I found some activity finally on the dahlias... my mom and I had to dig every one,,, maybe they were too deep... I don't know...

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Laura, you have to come over and see the garden now... I still need help what should I plant in right in front of the house??? ah... decisions... decisions....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

How much sun, how much room Kass?

Wayland, MA(Zone 6a)

hey kass
are you talking about right up near the house? it would be nice to have something evergreen for the winter mixed with perenials , you need some height too. I will come over sometime soo maybe we can meet there at lunch time , bring lunch and eat while we consult
laura

Wayland, MA(Zone 6a)

hey kass
I was just thinking maybe a group of 3 endless summer hydranga thye would look very nice as a backk drop to your garden they like to have the house to protsct them in the winter and bloom on new and old wood . I saw them at home depot last week in small pots for $19 each and I can't remember the large pot price , well worth the investment and they will grow quickly
laura
ps I still think a few evergreens too

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

ah.... hydrangeas.... hummmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Victor - it gets the worse of the sun.... from 12 to end of the day.... I have a climber (rose) tropicana and a night owl (very purple)

and only one bush (brand new) not very tall...it's the right side of the house... well I have basically nothing on the other side but a bush.... oh well....

I think you need a real focal point - small tree or large shrub with multi-season interest. Some Japanese Maples will take that kind of sun. I would consider one of the Hydrangea paniculatas, instead of the macros. They thrive in sun and there are real nice cultivars now. 'Limelight', 'Pink Diamond', 'Pinky Winky' and 'Quickfire' are some. A Redbud like 'Forest Pansy' might work too. There are many options. Lots of great Viburnums with great flowers, berries and Fall color. Have fun!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

thanks Victor.... I hope when the roses and other plants grow it will make it look full and red... I am not sure I am going to do much more this year... too much money already and I want to cut my own grass... the lanscaper did a lousy job last week... I can do better than that and I need the exercise...

I am going to ocean job lot some time this week... they had tons of boxwoods at a good price and even some evergreen... I want to plant some small evergreens in 2 pots to put in the front (fall)...

this year I think I am planting several daturas at the front... this will give me time to choose for next year... I am going to plant daturas in the front also... annuals and didn't cost me anything... since I started then from seeds!!!

Can I still plant cosmos and poppies from seeds??? I completly forgot to do it this past weekend!!!!! oh life!!!!

Cape Cod, MA(Zone 7a)

Laura, Your garden looks beautiful.
I never get to see it this time of year!
I love the gold bleeding heart, it is doing so well there. we always talk about the deutzia, but I've never seen it in bloom. Very pretty!
Bella looks like she's watching over everything.
Kassia, you have been working very hard. Looking good!

:)
Cindy

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

cindy, when are you coming around here??? next time you come to see Laura, ask her to bring you here!!!!!

I have been busy,... a lot to still plant... but I am happy~~~

Laura, I can still plant seeds of daysies right??? how about zinnias??? I still have so many seeds to sow!!!!!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

what a beautiful yard!! I bet it's wonderful to walk through in the mornings when the world is not up yet - that is, except for nature!

Wayland, MA(Zone 6a)

that is my favorite time in the garden! a nice cup of coffee no noise except the birds and the bees
kass you can still plant the zinnias but don't wait forever just do it ! you can always movem around later . the daisys depending on what kind they are will certainly grow but may not flower for you the first year so don't be disappointed ! do you have any nastursiums for your vegtable beds? my wildeve is doing well I just cant wait till she blooms!
