Jacaranda tree
It's a tropical tree, native to South America, that has beautiful blooms.
I have 4 seedlings this year of Jacaranda mimosafolia, but I am afraid that it is not hardy for me. :-( As best I can tell, it's only hardy in zone 9 or better.

it's also very popular in Mexico and Mediterranean countries... Easy to grow from seeds.
I too am interested in the jacaranda tree. I was in Falfurias,Tx. last year, blowin through the town and a huge tree covered in blue blooms caught my eye. I had no idea what it was ( have had my own wholesale business since 91) and was in a hurry and couldn't stop. I am wondering if it was a jacaranda, it was at least 25 - 30 ft. tall. I am moving to the country in Falfurias and would love to know where I can purchase one. Maybe I'll just beg for a couple of cuttings or seeds if it indeed is one. Know of anyone with a jacaranda in south Texas?
