I had some fun sneaking past Sacramento and Orange County on the Big Tree List. I was hoping more people would use this site to catalog their biggest trees. Fremont has the most Big Trees on the site. I hope I didn't wake the sleeping giant in Southern California.

I had to check out Santa Barbara's Morton Bay Fig tree. WHEW! Its still there apparently. This is a spreading tree that occupies a city block that has been designated for it in the downtown area. That tree, the Santa Ynez Mountains, the Pacific Ocean, and the Street Sign, Cliff Drive, were the landmarks that told me I was home when I lived there. I left Santa Barbara, reluctantly, in 1969.
