butterfly bush seeds???

(Zone 5a)

Do butterfly bushes produce seed? I cannot seem to locate them, or I have and do not know it. Anyone harvested from one?

Last year I collected a lot of seeds from my Sungold variety. The seeds are very small and are located in those smallish bulbed ends where each flower use to be. It's almost impossible to actually get the seeds only, so many people harvest the entire spent comb and sow the chaff and all by crushing the contents into a seeds starter mixture.

ps..I have other butterfly bushes and the combs are different than Sungold but I would think the same process would do.

You will need to stratify butterfly bush seeds for best germination.

Sow seeds in a mixture of peat moss and steril mix.Just on top...don't cover them. Place in your fridge foe 4 weeks and then take out and give warmth.

Be sure to mark the container,,'Do not eat!! These are not brownies!!'
