Off topic sort of- strange worm

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Hi,
I found this worm devouring several dozen rose buds :*( Any ideas what it is and if it could spread?
HOW DO I KILL IT? I know this is a double post but I am desperate...

Only one? Not dropping on your head (from trees)? Then not canker worms.

You could e-mail the UW -Ext. That's a great photo and they's e-mail you what it is and how to get rid of it. He's great!

There are dozens on the rose bush.

When I find things like that, I take great delight in throwing them as hard as I can on the concrete.

Finding these ruining my rose show and then getting hit by hail, it was just a bad gardening day...

Hail..... Vile.... Can't help with roses as ones here are as tough as nails and have never seen any baddies on them. Let us know what your ext. agent says.

You might ask over in the pest forum..

I didn't even know there was a pest forum. Well I guess I didn't look that hard. So many to choose from.

Thanks

I knew he'd have the answer for you. Glad you e-mailed him. I know during growing season , he can take a day or two, but I think in the pest world, you can get bogged down in the summer. He's a super nice guy too.
