They started blooming last week. Love going out in the morning and see what waits..I have no idea what this one is...
Perty new pics...
That blue star is "to die for!"
GiddyMoon - Nice light-medium blue color on the Ipomoea hederacea with a tinge of roseypink in the throat...
I notice that you're growing it mixed with Ipomoea purpurea...
I'd be interested in some seeds from your I.hederacea if you can keep track of the different pods...
TTY,...
Ron
wish me luck on that! I was given a bunch of unmarked seeds so I threw them against the pole. lol We will see what we get in that area.
Here are more I started 3 weeks ago. There are 30 different seeds including 3 varieties ofn moonvines...looking forward to see how well this works. I don't really care if they mingle...I just love running outside to see what is saying goodmorning...
I certainly don't mind if they mingle...I just like the color of that Ipomoea hederacea and think it would be nice if it could be separated and/or tagged out along with however you like to enjoy them...just a thought...
TTY,...
Ron
Actually, it should not be too hard to tag them. I did string up 5 lines for them to climb instead of all being jumbled on one or two strings...I will definitely let you know.
nice pics
What is that White with the Blue?
it's supposd to be a blue star.
nice
Nice assortment of blooms.
Thanks. This morning there were 6 varieties out there. I am not sure what one of them is...have to look it up. Middle color purple, pretty even, with a faint star. It isn't in the above pic...I am not sure if I can get one of the true color.
I really like that first one also.. the rest too, but that first one is nice.
A.
I love going out and see what has come up. I believe I am at about 85 varieties planted...every morning is like xmas. lol
Nice...
The white one with the blue star in the photo here

Giddy Moon, I like this one. I love the color!

Hey ROn,
I have Milky way with the purple star and blue star with a blue stripe. Are they not different?
Thanks Gardener..I went back and found 7 more blooming in 3 different areas in the back. I will post pics later.
GiddyMoon - Yes,Ipomoea purpurea "Milky Way" is certainly different than
Ipomoea tricolor "Blue Star"

The flower in your photo here

is Ipomoea purpurea "Milky Way"
You may have Ipomoea tricolor "Blue Star" growing somewhere, but it's just not showing in the particular photo you posted...
TTY,...
Ron
Giddymoon,
on your trade list you have Wedding Bells 5 seeds.. do you still have some for trade? I have some clitoria seeds you may be interested in. LMK, I thought I was growing WB but it turned out to be something else. Thanks.
A.
Well,
then can you explain why it is blue and not purple? And why I have blue star with yellow in the center, one without, like above and some with a pink inner rim and yellow center as well? These have been bought over time by different people but they were all labeled a blue star. I do have Milky Way, but those have always come up with the purple, not the blue?
Gourd, let me check for you, it should be fine:)
GiddyMoon - what I can do is to identify what I see...
If you post photos of whatever different types you have I will do my best to identify them...
If you want to post a sideview closeup of the lower exterior of any flower(s) in question showing the sepals >that will provide the objective botanical proof of species identity...
The photo that you posted of the group shot shows Ipomoea purpurea "Milky Way"...
I linked to what the Ipomoea tricolor "Blue Star" looks like in the PlantFiles...
You are free to apply whatever value you wish to the assessment...
Do you think the photo that you posted here
http://pics.davesgarden.com/pics/GiddyMoon_1179498658_416.jpg
is showing "Blue Star" (?)...
The white bloom with the blue-ish 'star' in your group photo is an Ipomoea purpurea...the coloration of the bloom, the size(!) of the bloom coupled with the fact that the bloom is attached to a stem which is clearly hairy(as is all of the other Ipomoea purpurea visible in the photo) which are also showing the sepal structure and reflexed pedicels indicates that all(!) of the MG's visible in the photo are Ipomoea purpurea...
Please see the thread devoted to common MG species identification for further details

Believe it or not...
Looking forward to your continued sharing...

Does anyone have BLUE morningglory seeds to sell or trade? Giddymoon, yours is beautiful! I'd love to know where you got it.
hederacea is quite common. Some people think of it as a wildflower or weed, although it is quite lovely!
Thanks Ron, I will go over all of that when I feel better. I got whicked sick these past couple of days and have no idea why but my head is killing me.. But...I could not resist posting the below pic for everyone.
Also, I have had 4 different ones pop up in the back. I have to admit all the technical stuff is not where my love is. I love seeing mother nature take its course and enjoy them in layman's terms so I can share with others who knock on my door and say how perty they are. lol
Right now I am up to 87 varieties, Sheeba, I have gotten the majority of my seeds off seed sellers on ebay. I have bought about 25 varieties from Japan as well.
Hope you enjoy the pic and if I am feeling better later I will be back.
Oh, PS, that pic is true, no editing, no color variations, it is glowing from the sun off the porch..I think I stared for about 5 minutes before getting the camera. lol
It's striking. Wonder if it's Kniola's black? Not much purple
in the throat area. I am too far behind
to go look for a pic to compare. lol
Jackie
The back lighting coming through the tube is very pretty. It looks like a morning glory beacon. :)
Photo's are rich in color as are the plants...no wonder you like going outside to see what has opened...
I know...it is very addictive....my neighbors are used to seeing me first thing out of bed. lol
