Pics of my new pond for anyone that cares to have a look....

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

Very pretty, I love the little bridge. You know everybody wished their pond was a little bigger when it's done. The general rule is decide how big you want it, then triple it. lol But that just means you will have to add on later. It's beautiful now though.

Loretta,
Thanks much that bridge is from the old pond I am looking to maybe get another one that will give the fish shade and some protection from the birds in the area but I'm afraid the that a bridge that will do that will also ruin the beauty of it. I put some plants in already any other suggestions to give them shade/protection? Thanks all.

Very nice Billitpro, Looks like you put a lot of work into that. Quite a few large boulders. Love the frog.

Billitpro-I don't have any problems to speak of from birds or predators, I guess because my pond is pretty large so lots of places for the fish to hide. Probably have lost a few to big bullfrogs but none to birds that I know about. Of course my guinea fowl got eaten by hawks, owls, foxes, and any other critter that could catch them. They must be delicious because evrerything eats them, but that is another story, lol
Back to the koi and the pond, as for shade the koi gather under the waterliliy leaves in the heat of the day. The small boulders around the edge of your pond look great and will get better and better as the plants fill in among them. Your pond looks like it would lend itself to adding a stream leading to another deep pool of water. It just goes on and on, but what great obsession. lol
One thing I do is use milk crates to sit flagstones on and pile on a few rocks or plants. Then the fish can hide under them and evade predators. Looks nice, too. Parrot's Feather would look great tumbling down your waterfall area. The baby fish love to hide in it. Here is a picture of my Lady of the Waterfall with the parrot's feather growing all around.

I just love your pond! It is just perfect. Thank you for all of the pics from different angles. How deep is your pond and what kind of fish do you have? You asked about providing shade and hiding places for your fish. I looked through your pics again and you seem to have a flat thin peice of stone that is just about opposite of your bridge. If you are not extremely attached to having it there you could possibly build up some rocks and place it in one of the edges of the pond so that it sticks out over the water. If you play with it a little on placement I think it would look very natural and provide the shade/security for the fish that you are looking for.

There is also a new landscaping forum on DG where the wonderful pics of your pond would make a perfect addition. Here is a direct link for you http://landscaping.com/

Thank you so much for sharing with us and enjoy your wonderful pond!

I really like your pond and you could go in so many directions. What style do you like? What color theme are you leaning towards? Do you like tropicals? Where is your sitting area located? What direction is it all facing? What plants do you like?

I have a large pond and could send you some starts once you decide what you want.

Very neat!

We are admiring the work of others while we gather ideas for our own
new pond, which hubby began digging a few days ago.

Love your waterfall, I hope to have one in our pond as well.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Absolutely brilliant! Well done, Billitpro.

BTW, JFF.... what's the opposite of Billitpro? I'll tell you later, my answer.

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Thank you for sharing. Lovely and peaceful. Lots of hard work lugging those stones, right!
I think a bench where you can sit and read, enjoying the music from the waterfall would be the Icing on the Cake!
