I seem to have the slows ... In the meantime Pes Tigridis

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Everything is growing, slowly though .. no flowers yet.

Here's one of Rons .. Pes Tigridis bud .. dial ups beware .. 13+ megs.

This plant is shy about showing it's flowers .. I never actually saw one .. only the remnants. I kept watching a bud get bigger and bigger and when I went to investigate found a mature seed pod! I couldn't believe I had missed the flower. That was last year. I cut the plant back and let it start over again .. this time I am determined to catch it in the act of flowering!

X - incredible detail...like a microscope...

Noteworthy are the large secondary bracts at the base of the cluster that might look like the sepals to newbies, but they're actually different structures ...

Ron said that this Pes Tigridis might be cleistogamic, a flower that does not open and is self-pollinated in the bud. In all of the buds last year I was only able to find a remnant.

I just wish something would bloom .. jeeze.

this I.pes-tigridis still did manage to produce a few seeds though...despite the cleistogamic nature of the initial flower...it may remain cleistogamic or it may decide to produce some larger flowers...the Messenger may have something to do with the 'cleistos' if it was used...

I didn't use messenger on this plant or any of your. I wouldn't do that without your permission.
