Katsura Tree Wilt yikes!

Rochdale, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I bought a Katsura Tree last year and had to keep it in its pot until this year. Just planted it out as have totally redone the garden. Then bottom branches of the leaves are all wilting. I have given it lots of water. Is it in shock? Do you think it will re foliate this year or will it die?I would be gutted as the fall color is the most magnificent pink only matched by my euonymous alatus.

It's probably just transplant shock. Be careful how much water you give it, when you transplant something like this often the roots are damaged a little and aren't able to take up as much water as the plant needs even if there's plenty of water around. So the thing to be careful of is that you don't overwater--check and make sure the soil's actually drying out before you give it more water, otherwise (especially if you have clay soil) the roots end up sitting in water that they haven't been able to absorb yet. But of course you don't want to let it dry out too much either, it's a very fine line with these things.

Thank-you ecrane3. It was planted in a new raised bed with fresh good topsoil. The reason I was a bit surprised is that it was in its pot from the garden centre although come to think of it I also have a ceonanthis (was from garden centre) in the same bed which has got brown leaves and buds and a buddleia alternofolia (transplanted from another bed) which lost all its leaves. The other shrubs in there are all doing well though. Maybe its just those 3 plants which are a bit more tempremental.
