As Julie was pointing out, noone ever has enough thyme.
Sandy, I wouldn't divide them.
Mulch for perennials?
The older I get, the less thyme I have.
Being a Senior Citizen I have golden thyme on my hands.
I've told thyme and again to stop these silly puns!
Thyme out, you guys! This is getting too silly. :}~
A friend gave me some and there was no thyme like the present.
........because thyme is of the essence.
I'm not sure I have thyme for this nonsense!
"Thyme after thyme" was one of our wedding songs.
'Nuff said - please.
victorgardener,
Hey, I've never been to a Starbucks ... the only time I've even thought about going there was to ask for the coffee grounds. I'm just not into the specialy coffees, Carnation flavorings are a treat for me. :o)
Walmart - well, that is a different story. I only go there when absolutely necessary. I definitly believe this store has not been good for the USA. I only buy things there that are made in the USA or at least North America. Mostly food and plants.
We try very hard to buy 'made in the USA' at other stores also, at least you can find them once in a while at the other stores ... hardly ever at Walmarts. Oh, and that store is a ZOO! Of course this is just my Humble Opinion. I find malls are zoo's too. LOL
Julie, I planted a variety of hardy geraniums in my Hosta/shade garden this year hoping to have some as a ground cover there. Also, in my other shade garden I have Lamium as a ground cover.
In a very small roadside full sun garden with terrible soil and lots of abuse, I'm trying to get sedum acre and sedum Dragons Blood to take over. This is it's 3rd or 4th spring and it is about half covered. Slow going I know, but I'm loving the look, so I think it is worth the wait.

Hey - that was played at our wedding too! Actually, my DSIL planned all the music. I didn't want a wedding at all - I wanted it to be our day alone - in every sense of the word, but DH is much more considerate of family feelings and insisted we at least invite the immediate members of our families. Just like I knew, suddenly every detail was taken over by someone else (and you couldn't say anything lest someone's nose be put out of joint).
So I planned my funeral - at least I can hope to take leave my way. The music is the happiest music I know including Exsultate Justi by John Williams from the film Empire of the Sun.
I have given strict instructions to my daughters - and I will probably put a clause in the will that there my estate will be left to DG members if my funeral wishes are not followed to a "t"
LOL (don't get your hopes up - there isn't much to inherit! - and I don't plan on kicking the bucket for another 40 years - I have to make all that d_mn education pay for itself. I expect I will have to work until I am 85)
Dave - Groan! - Julie
Just trying to catch up with you guys want to say one thing, you will never catch me iat a walmart, like to support my local nurseries some od them have been put out of business by the likes of Walmarts. So it will cost a few more pennies, so what? At least I get great service there and everybody knows everyone.
Plus frome what I read, they way they treat their help is outragous.
Could vent about them for a long time
Ever hear the one, thyme in a bottle....
ummm sorry victor!!
Somethymes you should stop when you are ahead!
Julie, What did I do?
That is truly beautiful. I can't imagine thyme ever looking better. Glorious.
Gorgeous! How long did it take to fill in like that?
Thanks,
If I had known how fast..I woulda planted them farther apart and saved $$. It was just about covered by the second year. That is 12 flats of 18 plants. I have enough now to put it anywhere I want and bring plenty to round-ups. I put it in aluminum lasagna pans and half cover it with dirt. As long as you keep it watered it will do fine.
You can split the ones you buy with a pair of sissors and plant the pieces a couple inches apart. I partially cover them with soil and then step on it. Keep it wet for about a week or two, then it will be fine.
chris
Is it as water-intensive once established?
maybe the first month but not after established, and actually the sprinklers didnt reach up there the first few years. They are about5 years old now.
What a nice thyme!
I want some more thyme!
Chris - I even dreamed of your thyme last night. I've got to find a place to give it a try.
Pirl, I dont know if it would survive but I could ziplock some and send. D-mail if you want.
chris
Thanks, you're sweet but I doubt if it would survive. It did make a very soothing dream but you get to live with it - twice as good!
Suprisingly, it is pretty hardy stuff.
that's cool...I just planted some lemon thyme yesterday in my herb garden. only one plant, so it obviously isn't going to do anything impressive like this, but what an amazing show!
too bad I wasn't in thyme to join in on the bad puns ;0)
Dave - "No thyme like the present" - the best of the worst!
Julie
No Julie - 'Brat - the best of the wurst'!!
Thanks Julie!
