Break in trunk! Help!

Hello all! I had a pool party yesterday for me daughters softball team and the trunk of my Willow (coastal plain) tree got stepped on! It cracked the trunk but not all the way through. I wrapped tape around the crack and staked it. What else can I do?

Wait. Willows are extemely tough. By the time you're ready to have tea with your new granddaughter under that same tree, you won't even know that it'd been hurt.

Take the tape and stake off next spring.
