All of your blooms are so pretty, and all I've got so far is buds . . . but this Chachamaru bud was (I thought) so pretty, I thought I'd post it! This is from seeds I got in a packet from Japan . . .
Just couldn't wait anymore!
Wow, I can hardly wait fo the bloom!
Please be sure to post a pic of it.
:~)
I agree with you, Syrumani! That is a neat looking bud. I enjoy all the variation I see in them. Chachamaru was one of my favorites last year.
This is a particularly interesting bud showing dark colored sepals that caught my eye the other day. http://davesgarden.com/journal/j/si/125545/
Arlan
Syrumani - nice early buds...
Why don't you add it to the PlantFiles here
http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/147542/
it will help people to identify this hybrid species by the sepals...

Ron
oh this isn't fair!!!! *pouting* My morning glories are barely putting up stems for climbing and y'all are already getting flowers, aw man!!!! lol
Ron - I did just that when I posted this one . . . I don't know how long it takes to update the files, though . . .
AuntAnne - mine have just begun to start vining this past week, so yours are probably not far behind.

Be prepared. Dust off your cameras and get the coffee maker set for 6 AM. :)
Syrumani,
That's a nice Chachamaru you have growing. Looks very happy in that pot. What else do you have growing?
Dee
Dee - in that pot I've also got some marigolds . . . forgot which ones, so I'll have to wait for it to bloom. As for vines, I've also got a scarlet runner bean, Gypsy Bride, another pot of Chachamaru, and in the ground I've got 2-3 seedlings of each of the seed packs I traded with you for! I'll be taking pictures of them in a bit.
I have also got seedlings going from seeds I received from Ron - Ipomoea quamoclit (8), Ipomoea coccinea var. aurantia (2), Ipomoea albivenia (3), and I'm waiting for a Merremia tuberosa to make an appearance.
Nichole
Congratulations. It`s lovely. :)
I`ll be back and share more on the other threads later on.
Wonderful bloom Nichole!
Joanne
Nichole,
I enjoy your clear, sharp pictures of this beautiful plant! Nice work! As I recall, my Chachamaru set very few seed pods.....and I think I recall Gardener2005 mentioning something to this effect also. You are fortunate!
Arlan
Very, very nice. Good to hear that they formed pods.
Thanks Arlan! Not bad for an old 2.1 megapixel! I'm going to change the use of the colored straws too keep track of the pods I see developing, so I can keep proper count. And, unless any of my neighbors have any Ipomoea nils growing, there shouldn't be too much issue about open/cross pollination.
A - I was worried I wouldn't get any at all! Nice pictures of yours you just posted.
Nichole
oh nichole,
I hope these make seeds too. I think I'm getting addicted too much lately. Thanks about the photos, it sometimes takes me so long to get them uploaded..
Thanks Joseph!
I guess you're right, Joseph. I just went out to check, and the flower was gone, just the sepals . . . a whole bunch of other buds to look forward to, though.

Remember this pic?

Here they are today!
Syrumani-Nichole - The dried seedpods would make a good comparison photo >in the PlantFiles to the earlier photo of the still green but maturing seedpods...
Yes,harvest time is so rewarding(!)...
TTY,...
Ron
Yes, Joseph - harvest time is very exciting! I got 4 seeds out of each of these pods . . . and I've seen 2 more pods that will be ready by weekend, I think.
Ron - we're on the same wavelength! I did go ahead and post the pic of the dried seed pods, since I had posted the green pods a few weeks ago. I'm thinking I'll start a few of the chachamaru seeds that you sent - see if I get the same reverse tubes that others have gotten from your seed.
Oh that is so neat.. Congratulations..
A.
AuntAnne - Welcome(!) to the MG Forum...
Keep your eye out for MG's that are native to Texas for us...
TTY,...
Ron
