Holly winterkill ?

Athol, MA

I have a problem with my small female Holly bush that I think is winterkill. Atleast two thirds of the leaves have turned brown and fallen off. There are a couple of new small branches that have come out on the bottom with good leaves but I don't see anymore coming. I've given it a couple of doses of Miracid, and I also put a small amount of Epsom Salts around the base. It doesn't seem to change it one way or the other. Is there anything else that I should do, or have I already done too much? Thanks for any advice.

It should eventually recover, until the next hard winter anyway.

Skip the fertilisers - that's not what it needs right now. Giving it fertiliser is like force-feeding cream cake to a hospital patient on intensive care.

Make sure it is protected from deer and other leaf-eating critters.

mine done that and little white flowers have come in where the leaves were. also started new top growth. I thought caterpillars were stripping leaves.
