I love this shrub and have a spot that is sunny until about 2 p.m.- does anyone else have Abelia in part shade? I would sacrifice some of the blossom for the ease of care, flower color, and length of bloom.
Thank you-Dee Northern California
Glossy Abelia (Edward Goucher)
I always grow mine in part shade. I don't have that particular cultivar but I've grown other ones and they've done fine.
I had a 30' row of these, with some in full sun and some in part shade. They all stayed pretty much the same size, although the ones in the sun flowered earlier.
