I found this guy today in the soil about 2" down. The pointy end wiggles. What is it?

Looks like a sphinx moth pupa (cocoon).

It's some kind of moth pupa, maybe a cutworm moth. You could keep it in soil in a jar and see what it becomes.

Good idea! I just have to dig it out of the trash now. Ewww. I don't want to. Thanks for the info!!!! I'll do some research about them. I love that bug guide site.
