Ginger,
what do you think that big one ate?
Container surprises... Show us yours!
I *thought* that snake looked especially smug!
Oh my, is that bulge the prize rooster?
It sure is critterologist
I had to keep the snake till it digested and passed the rooster ,
So I could get the leg band back for the owner ,
So he could claim his insurance money .
Sorry pod for Hi-Jacking your thread . Kell
Not to worry Ginger ~ I don't want to keep disturbing Ms. Wren and don't hear any chirping yet...
Chirping ?
I thought it was pitter patter of little legs ?
Sorry Ginger there is definitely not enough room in that little house for 5 sets of little legs to pitter patter. LOL
Awww how cute! What an odd spot for a nest ~ What kind of birds?
Love the retaining wall! What a great use for old tires.... and lots of little planting pockets, too!
Wow! That is cool Critterologist. I did not even catch that. What a great idea for recycling... and gardening.
Thank you both critterologist and Pod .
Firstly they are Willie Wagtails .
They nest two times a year on my clothes line .
And yes that was a very economical way of building a retaining wall .
I grow Trac Jazz in all the holes as a cascading garden .
It works very well for me . Old timber wall got eaten by White ants .
Last Xmas I grew water melons on the wall .
LOL... I have to keep adjusting my perception of the seasons to realize you're posting from the southern hemisphere... watermelons at Christmas!! I love the idea of a cascading garden growing from that wall of tires. :-)
Podster I love your picture of your wren nest they always nest in my garage but they didn't this year instead they picked the blue bird house I just got this year for the 'blue birds' lol I'm waiting to see pictures of the little ones. The wrens are on of my favorite!
plantladylin in answer to your question about why the wrens build nests and not use them, the male makes several nests and then the female picks one to lay her eggs in. Kind of like house hunting lol
What a nice guy the male must be... trying to keep his sweetie happy! LOL
Hey LeBug ~ glad to see you!
I snuck out this morning to take a photo of the grumpy looking little bird in her nest and danged if she wasn't out shopping for breakfast. More egg shots but still only 5. I have to laugh at the look on her face when I peek at her. Will try for a photo in the AM when lighting is better.
prize chicken? sad:( lol
Not Chicken Giddy ,
A fully grown Bantam rooster .
So now a Rooster is not a chicken?
So now a Rooster is not a chicken?
How can a Baby be an adult ???
A chicken is a baby fowl .
A chook is an adult fowl .
That is how it is in OZ .
LOL at different usages... it just looks like the same language! Here, a chick is a baby fowl, and the adults are chickens (hens or roosters). I think the "teenage" hens are pullets (when they're laying the little eggs), and neutered males are capons, but for the full list you should probably check over in the poultry forum. ;-)
can't wait to see them:)
Ginger your eyesight is incredible! LOL
Thank you podster .
By the way ,
Nice pair of Jeans you are wearing . lol
hey pod...did you hear us talking about you in this thread?? it seems like you and i are the missing component in this get together....(at least the most meaningful missing component)

That picture of those baby birds is absolutely an awesome experience just to see.....
Ginger ~ close... but no cigar. Jeans come off when I get home. Sweats when perched in front of the monitor. Ahhhh...
Sticks ~ I missed that thread. Thx. But I am afraid I won't be there either. As long as I work, I won't get to go. Work is what pays to play... : ))
Besides I think I'd rather run into you at Rtop and that probably won't happen till we are both on those roller walkers with our mesh bag attached to the front of the walker to carry our treasures and our hankies. I can see it now, your walker in the back of your little ragtop sports car and mine in the back of mine. Hopefully, that will be light years away! See Ya!
edited to add: I'll probably be the one with the blue/white hair.
Now,
HI HO HI HO ~ its' off to work I go....

Nope, not the original owner. I would have been tho ~ if I could have afforded it in the early '70s. Lusted after one of these for many years. I might add ~ it was worth the wait. : ))
Yes , I agree it is a beauty Pod.
Good shot of the urchins Pod.
