You think that's bad. People in the Sustainable Forum were discussing drinking one's own pee!! They are WAY too into self-reliance.
Happy Birthday, Kassia
Dave, that was his point too.
wow... I heard that pee is good to keep scank away.... now for compost.... well, I don't drink any beer... and nobody in my house either... but if it's good for compost I will get some and pour in my new compost!!!!
Yes Kassia, both beer and urine are good for compost. Doesn't seem like a topic for your birthday thread though!
lol.... it's ok... I feel like I am celebrating my b-day all week....
Uh - I know this has nothing to do with Kassia's birthday - but why does tilling damage the soil? I thought we were supposed to do this . . .
It disrupts the structure of the soil, according to what I've heard. Others worry about earthworms. Actually, every time you use a trowel, spade or shovel you're disturbing the soil structure.
Messes up the physical structure and disturbs the myriad of organisms that give soil its vitality, It started centuries ago when it was thought plants 'ate' soil so it had to be chopped into little pieces. Here's a link.

I didn't read the link as I have to get moving but how does it affect the plants?
