What are you doing special for Valentine's Day?

Surry, VA(Zone 7b)

I usually have a big seafood feast at home, but I'm thinking about doing something different this year in order to keep my fiance on his toes. Any romantic ideas?

We'll be planting peas. Nothing much romantic about that, I guess, but it's the traditional day for it down here.

I once had this delimna... and this went wonderfully... but it took some advanced planning which can all be done the day before. Except for reservations!!

It was sort of a scavenger hunt. I had to make little cards and envelopes with directions. And it all started on his way to work. (the envelope in his truck read "at lunch pick up a bag at the florist marked "Paugh"(his last name) and follow the instructions inside) In the bag was flowers and a bottle of wine that I had purchased the day before at a florist close to where he worked. In the bag was another envelope with more instructions to be done after work.. all tasks came with additional instructions. I only had 5 steps though. One of his steps was taking the kids to the sitter... and she (the sitter)handed him a business card to the restaurant where I was. Told him to go there. (I wanted a takeout menu but this restaurant didnt have takeout so I told them of my plan and they offered a business card.) He arrived at the Restaurant... with a smile undescribable. And its all he talked about! Then the waiter handed him the bill for dinner with a key...to a nice oceanfront room with jacuzzi (that I slipped to the waiter before he arrived at the restaurant!!) He started laughing... he thought the whole surprise thing was over! He loved it. It was worth doing it.. (once!) Every Valentines Day, he recalls THAT one!!

Nicole, What a great romantic idea! Since Valentine's Day is mid-week, I'll save it for his b'day. Thanks, Carol

Philadelphia, PA(Zone 6b)

The tractor idea sounds fun..and so does the passiflora shopping! Hmmmm, I think DH and I will go back to this little Mexican restaurant for dinner after I've had an afternoon of helping Kindergarten school kids with their Valentine projects :)
ps..DH's favorite line for not buying me flowers is "you grow tons of flowers, so why should I buy them?"..I think I hit him too hard in the head at that point..lol

My husband's birthday was today, the 13th and I gave him a new office chair for the computer, a subscription to Wildlife in NC and a $60 gift to play poker on-line!! LOL.
For tomorrow, I am giving him a cookbook for his bread-making machine that he got Christmas. We don't have much money so this was a stretch, but you turn a certain age, you need cheering up!

Greenfield, IN(Zone 5b)

My DH went to work as normal today, then called to have me go outside, around the side of the house & there it was. 2 shepherds hooks tied together like a heart! What a sweetie! He knows I've been wanting the hooks for hanging baskets. Tonight, an ever romantic evening - well as much as you can have with 6 & 3 year old boys!!! LOL. Julie
