purple smoke, white fringe...a pretty combo

You don't always see these side by side. I wish now I had planted them closer together. They would make a pretty hedge! The fringe tree only bloomed about 3 weeks but the purple smoke will be pretty until fall.

I think they'll both get a fair bit bigger than that, so they'll become closer together as time goes on.

Very nice!

Yes -- plan on each of them wanting to be 20' x 20'.

They will be locked in an eternal embrace.

Some things get better with age. That is the nice thing about gardening vs. other past times. Just about every tree I have gets better yearly; I have ornamental and fruit trees planted yearly from about 1999 till this year and every year I get something new and wonderful.

There is a grove of fringe trees about ten miles from here. It is quite impressive to see a pure natural stand of them in bloom. I'm gonna try to collect some seed this fall if the birds don't beat me to it.
