I planted several chinquapin oaks a year ago last fall and would like to transplant two of them. Does anyone know if I could do that this time of year without damaging the trees? They would both be in full sun but are close to my house so I could water them regularly. One is about 2 ft tall and has about a 1 ft canopy, the other is almost as tall but has very few leaves on it.

I don't see why not. I wouldn't put them too close to the house though.
Be ready to rig up some way to give them some shade if they start to wilt.
as far as rigging up some shade, as I have just done on some small roses, you can buy some "solar" screen at local hardware or lumberyard. it's a fiberglass screen with smaller
holes and staple it on some wood stakes (tomato?) or make yourself. Doesn't look very pretty but I hope it works, also should help to buffer the wind.
