My father saved these. Any idea what they are?

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

I was going through seeds today to decide what to plant out and these were mixed in with some sunflower seeds my father gave me a few years ago. He used to save everything and would of course give me old pill bottles full of extras. These are not marked and unfortunately he passed, so I can't ask. He lived in Iowa so it had to be something that would grow in that climate. It could be either veggie or flower or tree. Thanks for the help.

Could they be some type of gourd?

Rae- You get an A for quick detective work. You are probably right. I seem to remember him hanging gourds up for birdhouses. Maybe a birdhouse gourd or a bottle gourd. Is there a difference? Thanks a lot.

Actually the size is deceiving. They were huge and were gourds. My father kept everything!

Gourd seeds.
Yep, that's what they look like to me. I have birdhouse gourds that "selfseed" I guess my longears crunched the ones that fall outside the garden fence and up they come in the spring. I planted some Snake gourds this year, looks like one made it. Also some kind of Prehistoric gourd seed hope they come up, give those birdhouse gourds some competition :> So this fall I should have some real treasures.

I grew up in Iowa and the people I knew that had them used them for hunting.
