CLOSED: Can you ID this bug??

San Francisco, CA

Hi there,
I have these bugs on my star jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides). They didn't show up until the new srpring growth arrived, and they are focused along the nascent flower stems. They don't seem to be affecting the new growth...YET. If it helps, I am located in San Francisco and the plant gets full sun until about 3 pm.

It's hard to see, but I bet they're some kind of Treehopper nymphs. Not friendlies.

To get a true ID ,
You will need to get a lot closer .
Like this . This caterpillar was 1/2 inch long .

Ya I didn't think they were friendly. Well here is an attachment of what I think is the same bug but from a different angle. It is entirely possible though that these are two different bugs, but I believe that they are the same one. pictures aren't the greatest but the focus on my cam isn't either!

ginger749, please zip over to SFO on the next flight and get a closer shot for us please.
SirS., the first picture is clearer to me... the best thing I can suggest is to do an image search of Treehopper nymphs, and see if it looks right to you. The ringed abdomen is what looks like them to me.

I'll look up the treehopper nymphs right now and let you know what I find..
