Japanese Morning Glory crosses grow outs

Hmm, the third one down (with a photo) looks exactly like Shikanoko, or Kanoko.

On this one:

They crossed a speckled one with a solid one/solid throat.

The white throat must be dominant in this particular cross of flowers.

Out of 29 seedlings:

15 white throat
6 solid throat
4 picotee edging and some deeper colors
4 speckled of varying shades

I understand why your F2 seeds have to be grown out in large numbers.

It probably is a shikanoko or a shikanoko look alike.

I like the way they are documenting the progeny.

I`m doing some grow outs but my goodness between my family,6 dogs,miniature horse,cats,reptiles,bunny rabbit,house to clean,yard work and....the new litter of 13 puppies...did I say 13? yes. :)

I`m going to do well growing them and snapping some pictures of the new babies and calling it a day! I`ll tag and do some selfing on the vines catching my eye but that is about it for me.

I think Arlan is the one keeping exellent and informative records of these goings on!

We miscounted the pups. There are 12 and it looks like the runt is not doing well.We will try to help him.

What type of puppies?

They are labrador retrievers. The Mom is the best dog we ever had. The Dad is a big stocky 95 pounds of muscle.

Anyways,back on topic. I think it is neat how those 4 speckled flowers are all different shades. That is a lot of diversity being seen there.

The runt died last night. The vet has told us that sometimes in large litters one puppy cannot get enough nourishment because the mother dogs uterus isn`t big enough to hold all of them so they can`t develop properly. It is still really so sad. At least all the other 11 are perfecty healthy and nursing good. Now I`m in for extra food & supplements for mom,feeding the pups early because no way can she make enough milk without losing too much of her coat and it will be round the clock for the next 6 weeks!
