after two years my double pink flowering almonds are blooming white this year? I can't figure it out. It's not a form of hybrid is it that would cause it to revert back to somethign is it?
Any idea as to why
I've found that warmer temperatures during or just before bloom time often bleaches out the colors of blooms. This was the case on the flowering Almonds I've seen around here this year. We had temps in the 80's and they all looked mostly white with a faint hint of pink. In the case of Magnolias it appears that very warm temps during bud formation in September can also have this effect on their flower colors the next spring. Not sure if the same holds true with Prunus sps. though.
Thanks Kman... nice to know I not going totally crazy. The Magnolias have been in bloom here for several weeks now some of them. Where is the time flying too. Gues s with all the lousey weather we are behind but Mother Nature still going full steam ahead.
