Daily pics vol.10
Beautiful pic Resin!!
Oh Lily. Those tree swallows are beautiful. Love that color!
Thanks Unique! I sure hope they stay. I see them for a few hours and then I don't for a few days. Today they were back again checking out another house already taken by a pair of house wrens. Boy... talk about a racket! I didn't get any pictures of them today because I was rushing to plant some things before the rain hit.
Love those Pigeons! So many different colors!
Lily great pics of the Chickadee; I can see he's keeping an eye on you.
The Tree Swallows are gorgeous!!!
Thanks Pell! You know whats kind of funny?... there is a mockingbird nest just a few feet away from the chickadee house in my hawthorn tree. They don't seem to mind being close to each other at all! In fact sometimes the mockingbird stands on top of the chickadee house and the dees don't mind. On the other hand the mockingbird chases other birds away that are similar in size to itself. It hates seeing any robins near its nest. I wonder if the dees and the mockers don't consider each other competition because of the size difference.
Here is the mocker nest but its not the best picture.
Oh thats really neat!!
Lily, I love the way the Tree Swallow has his leg around the others back almost looks like a loving moment..
Its nice to see such new pretty green leaves. And a very pretty cardinal to go with it!
It was funny to see both of the swallows at the entrance hole at the same time. i can't tell which is the male and which is the female. They were keeping very close tabs of each other lol. At one point there were actually 3 swallows IN THE BOX! I read up on them and found out that they are very gregarious and like to nest near each other kind of like purple martins. In fact sometimes they will use purple martin condos.
LOL, cramming in the entrance hole together!
Pelletory, you struck gold, with that red and green. It is so rewarding to capture such a beautiful sight. Wonderful pictures.
I awoke to clear blue sky. Thankful for the bright sun light for the first time in a week. I drove the mile down to West Chester Lagoon, hoping for good shots of Bufflehead. To my surprise, a thin crust of ice had formed over most of the Lagoon, during the night. The birds were all clustered on a small area of open water in the middle.
Very nice Gras!!!
They really are a handsome bird. Nice pic!
Quite a sharp looking guy!
Enjoying all the pics! Been lurking because I haven't had enough time to do any birding the past few weeks.
Deb
It's really interesting seeing all the sea bird shots you post Grass. I don't get to see those here in the Tennessee boonies.
Gardenpom I LOVE your squirrel shot. Its so clear and sharp.
Are you a gardener Deb in SC? That has been crimping my style lately too. As usual, I am behind in my gardening plans. When the daylily boxes start arriving I plunge into frenzy mode. I've been setting up the tripod on the lawn by one of the bird houses. I work a bit and then I take a break behind the camera for a bit. On Saturday I got these shots of a Carolina Wren getting ready to plunder the meal worm feeder. It was right after we had a sudden bout of cold rain. Here he or she is trying to air dry.
