I love the white with the blue streptocarpella. Lovely planters. Unique. While I like petunias as much as anyone, the choice of heat loving gesneriads is much more interesting. Next year I will think to use them more. Your achimenes are beautiful too, Keyring. Thanks for posting the photo.
This is aeschynanthus 'Rasta' outdoors on the front porch forming buds.
what's outdoors?
Snow you just gave me an idea spot for my streptocarpella....front porch in a hanging basket...under the eaves, to replace the ever wilting petunias....
I hang out with such a smart batch of folks.
MsC
That's a grand idea, MsC! Everyone will ask you what that beautiful plant is.
Thanks for posting the photo of Rasta. It gives me hope.... I recently offloaded a noid lipstick on a friend, and I said that it might not bloom til next spring. Maybe it will manage some flowers earlier than that.....
I almost missed all of this thread...........out comes the epsom salt for my streptocarpella.......also ordered lots of seaweed kelp for leaves........haven't tried it yet.....I would love for my blue s. to bloom like that!!!!!
You might want to be careful with the bowls in the sun Gail, they can act like little magnifiers and cook what's in them...maybe check them once in a while to make sure they are not heating up in there too much......
maybe I will go move them from out of the sun.......thanks for the info.........by the way, i sent you that information that you needed last Monday..........the postal lady said it takes one week to 10 days for you to receive it...........hope it helps your project....
:))
Another gesneriad that does very well outdoors for the summer in areas of frost...'Gloxinia Sylvatica'. Really takes the heat but needs to be kept contantly moist.

Thank you. I am so delighted to say I just came in from watching several hummingbirds going after these blossoms. What a bonus!
Great close-up photo!
I looked at the pics on the link you gave us and all I can still say is WOW........
don't most plants that grow from rhizomes like bulb pans better???????????
